Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA)
This session is to discuss the protein made by prostate cells which are termed as Prostate specific antigen. Prostate-specific antigen (PSA), also known as gamma-seminoprotein or kallikrein-3, is a enzyme encoded in humans by the KLK3 . PSA is a member of the -related family and is secreted by the of the gland. Both cancerous as well as normal prostate cells are known to make the PSA. Increased level of PSA in men can indicate prostate cancer.
